San Jose, CA -- three young entrepreneurs, whose vision is to reduce eWaste one household at-a-time, set out to change the way consumers manage their electronics' end-of-life and reached a noteworthy goal after two years of hard work: 200+ electronic units' lifetime were extended beyond the manufacturers' planned obsolescence period, totaling to more than 800 lbs of lead reduced from eWaste landfills.
Little do we realize how much eWaste we generated just by dumping an obsolescence electronic unit irresponsibly. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Americans disposed more than 232 millions electronic units in 2007, of the figure, only 23% were recycled while 77% were trashed or disposed improperly. eWastes are hazardous for the air, ground water and the environment in which they were disposed. If one were to tell us that just by simply trying a hassle-free service, at no cost to us, we could not only reuse our electronics responsibly but also save the environment, "most people, those with high environmental ethics, would not hesitate. And for the more tech savvy consumers, proper recycling education is all that's needed," said Anna Duong, Marketing Officer of iTritek.
Using a root-cause diagnostic approach, iTritek repairs at the component level instead of parts swapping. iTritek makes it hassle-free for the consumer to extend the lifetime of electronic units (like TVs, projectors, computers) while reducing, on average, 4-8 lbs of lead in addition to cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium (chromium 6), PVC plastic and brominated flame retardants per unit, by allowing consumers to try iTritek's diagnostic service at no obligation for free on top of a $0 pickup and delivery service.
It takes a world effort to keep Earth green. iTritek is doing its small share. What have you done?
